Child Centered Play Therapy
You might be wondering how Play Therapy works— Isn’t it just children playing with toys? Can’t they just do that at home? It's hard to describe in words, but this video helps paint a better picture:
Within a secure environment, children engage in play as
a means of expressing and processing their experiences in a way
that can’t compare to verbal communication. Through carefully
selected toys, art materials, and interactive activities, play
therapy is a channel where children can explore their developing
emotions as they’re still acquiring the language required to fully
express them. Our main priority as play therapists is to act as a
guide, identifying each child’s unique experiences and equipping
them with the coping skills that will help them overcome any
challenges they may face.
